What is whiplash?

Whiplash is a neck injury occurring when the head is jolted backward and then forward. Often occurring in an auto accident involving a rear ended vehicle.

Injuries can range from mild to severe and can impact daily life starting immediately but sometimes symptoms take hours or days to show up, you might not feel pain for up to 14 days! The main symptom is pain in the neck and shoulders.

What are common whiplash symptoms?

  • Neck pain and stiffness.
  • Worsening of pain with neck movement.
  • Loss of range of motion in the neck.
  • Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull.
  • Tenderness or pain in shoulders, upper back, or arms.
  • Tingling or numbness in the arms.
  • Fatigue.
  • Dizziness.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Sleep disturbances.
  • Irritability.
  • Difficulty concentrating.
